Synopsis

Looks at the indelible mark of the British on the Caribbean. Reveals how today's 'British' West Indians have absorbed and adapted British culture - in their 300 year-old parliament, in their clubs and schools. The programme also includes a dramatisation of extracts from the diary of Thomas Thistlewood, an 18th century Jamaican overseer on a sugar plantation run by slave labour. Contributors to the programme include the Barbadian politician and cricketer Wes Hall.
