Synopsis

A documentary on the use of sound effects, voices and music in animation films. In this programme, shot at the Cardiff Animation festival in 1992, Chuck Jones talks about the skills of voice-man Mel Blanc and reconstructs a Treg Brown special sound effect for a 'Road Runner' cartoon. Aardman Animations' Nick Park explains that people are interviewed at home for the animation soundtracks.

Also features Candy Guard with Sarak Kennedy; Richard Goleszowski on Rex the Runt; Producer Robin Lyons on Siriol's version of Under Milkwood; Bill Plympton; Erica Russell; Matt Forrest; computer animator Jeremy Schwartz; Marv Newland; Tony Barnes. Animator Paul Berry and film editor Therese Lynch explain how in THE SANDMAN a chilling atmosphere was created without the use of voice. Larry Sider talks about makign sounds for the Quay Brothers Gilgamesh film. Nick Park talks baout storyboarding Wallace and Gromit. Jan Svankmajer talks about his attitude to sound.
