Synopsis

An interview with John Searle, Professor of Philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley. It is said that the power of abstract thought, made possible by language, is what distinguishes man from the beasts. John Searle discusses this and how language relates to thought and to reality, and explains the great interest in these questions that has developed in recent years.
