Synopsis
Portrays the complex and colourful life of the 18th century French playwright. Beaumarchais is summoned from rehearsals to undertake a secretmission to London on behalf of Louis XV. While in England he is thrown into prison, suspected of conspiring with American rebels. Once released, he becomes a gun-runner for the American revolution, until bankrupt, he returns to France and the theatre.
