Synopsis

Looks at the growing problem of eating disorders, including bulimia, anorexia, and obesity, particularly amongst girls and women. Sufferers relate their struggles to control serious eating problems, and the programme visits a special psychiatric ward at Leicester General Hospital where sufferers are given long-term treatment. Also talks to medical experts about the issue, including Dr Jull Welbourne, an authority on anorexia, who talks about the pressures put on women by society to become "barbie dolls".
