Synopsis

French foundry worker Horty wins a prize to go to Southampton to see the launch of the Titanic. While he is there he allows a chambermaid, Marie, to share his bed when she says she has nowhere to go, although nothing happens between them. When Horty goes back home he pretends to his friends that he had an erotic affair with Marie, his imagination beginning to blur fantasy with reality.
