Synopsis

Biography of the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, which explores the many complex sides of his work, life, and the times in which he lived. Uses a combination of live cinematography, interviews and archival footage. Included amongst the many Frank Lloyd Wright buildings featured in the film are: the Prairie houses; the Johnson Wax Building in Racine, Wisconsin; the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo; Fallingwater in Bear Run, Pennsylvania; The "Usonian" houses; Taliesin - Wright's estate in Wisconsin- and Taliesin West in Arizona; and the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, which was completed in 1959, a few months after the architect's death. Participants include: Philip Johnson, Robert A M Stern, Maya Lin, Brendan Gill, Paul Goldberger, Edgar Tafel and Meryl Secrest.
