As politicians attending the International Conference on the Trade in Endangered Species in Geneva were set to vote on whether to lift the ban on ivory trade, examines the pressures on the game parks of Africa caused by increasing populations of elephants. Arguments are made on the need to cull elephants and treat them as a sustainable resource in order to benefit local people and change their attitudes. The continuing problem of ivory poaching is also addressed.
