Pai is the only child of the chief of a Maori tribe, but as a girl isn’t entitled to take her place as his heir. When her grandfather starts training local boys in the way of being chief, Pai is forced to prove that she is a good as her male counterparts. This tense, inspiring story provides a wonderful insight into another part of our world.
