Film details

Synopsis

Drama set in 1964 in the Bronx, New York, against a background of changes in the Catholic church and conflicts between traditionalists and liberals. Sister James, teaching at a Catholic school, becomes suspicious when the school's priest appears to be giving the school's first black student, Donald, too much attention. When authoritarian, traditionalist nun Sister Aloysius Beauveir learns of Sister James's fears, she seizes the chance to try and remove Father Flynn from the school, despite lacking any solid evidence to support her insinuations.
