Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut is an enjoyable comic drama featuring an ensemble of Britain’s finest actors.
Beecham House, a home for retired professional musicians, is dependent on income from its annual recital to stay solvent. The residents’ best chance of survival is if new arrival Jean Horton (Maggie Smith) performs with the other members of a famous quartet, one of whom is her resentful ex-husband.
