Arts on Film Archive
Arts on Film Archive, developed at the School of Media Arts and Design of the University of Westminster, offers on-line access to a large range of films on art produced in the United Kingdom since the 1950s. The website presents a complete database and on-line video streaming of all 450 films made by the film department of Arts Council England between 1953 and 1998 and several films produced till 2003 by the dance Department of ACE.

BBC Programme Catalogue
The BBC has been cataloguing and indexing its programmes since the 1920s and this database, created and maintained by the BBC’s Information and Archives department, holds over 900,000 entries and is updated daily. Although intended to be as comprehensive as possible, it is not a complete list of all BBC programmes made.
BFI Film & TV Database
BFI siteSince it was established in 1933, the BFI has been collecting information about film and television from around the world dating back to the beginning of film production. This information is now made available in the form of this online database.
BIB Online
Broadcast Information Bureau database, accessible by subscription only. Combines data from Television Programming Source Books, Episodes Guide and International Documentary Source Book. Thus has records for over 200,000 films and TV programmes. Records contains title, synopsis, year produced, run time and TV distributor.
Classic TV
Site features classic TV shows from 1950's - 1990's. Can search by title and decade. Includes details of cast, broadcast history and merchandise options. Covers US and UK shows.
Coronation Street
Independent website which holds detailed information on the TV series 'Coronation Street'. Site lists all actors who have appeared on the series, with individuals photos, biographical details and full career information and credits. Agent contacts are included. Also holds FAQ's, links, reviews of episodes, weekly summaries and episode summaries.

An impressive cuttings database which is promoted as a 'website intended as a resource for researchers and fans of the BBC programme Doctor Who'. Holds over one thousand scanned cuttings from media coverage of the series. Material covers newspapers, magazines, listings, Radio Times, adverts and comics. Search options include keyword, actor and decade. Links page includes connections to official Dr Who websites plus links for fan clubs, reference guides and merchandise. Also a useful updates section listing additions to the archive, and providing current news on the series.
The Encyclopaedia of Fantastic Film and TV
Started in 1980 by Kevin Lyons, the database covers science fiction, horror, fantasy and animation in cinema and television from the very beginnings to date. Title details can include: formats, aspect ratios, credits, summary, capsule review, availability, awards, timeline, alternative titles, links, article references, keywords etc. Find titles through the useful search facility.
EP Guides
Site providing episode lists for over 1700 TV shows covering the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Many titles contain further information on cast and synopsis. Includes options to search by name, keyword of title or plot description. Current television news information and relevant links also included.
Internet Movie Database
An international site providing useful, up-to-date free movie and TV information. Contains details of more than 250,000 films and television programmes. Starts with earliest cinema and goes through to forthcoming releases. Includes cast and credits, character names, plot summaries, running times, ratings, year of release, trivia, etc. Also holds a comprehensive database of quotes.
Irish Film & TV Research Online
Irish Film & TV Research Online incorporates three searchable databases: Irish Film & Television Index; Irish Film & Television Biographies; and Irish Film & Television Bibliography. It also presents information about the Irish Postgraduate Film Research Seminar, an annual conference of film studies' postgraduate students based in Ireland or engaged in researching Irish material elsewhere.

Memorable TV
Extensive database covering TV in the UK plus USA, Australia and Canada. Programmes are listed alphabetically and then divided into sections. Each entry provides details of date of transmission, length, credit and cast. Site makes no statements concerning how comprehensive database is, but also includes impressive lists for UK sitcoms, UK comedies and UK documentaries. Titles again arranged alphabetically. Entries from the 1960s to the present day.
Sausagenet TV
Contains an alphabetical list of nearly 100 children's programmes, plus options to buy videos. Information on individual programmes includes a short history, a poem, images and link option. Also provides indexes, further videos, merchandise and links.
Television Heaven
Site features information and credits on a growing number of UK and US television programmes and series and has an A-Z which aims to be the most comprehensive guide to television past and present available on the Web. They also publish a bi-monthly e-zine 'Teletronic' (www.teletronic.co.uk).
