- Site aimed mainly at teachers of animation. Includes online 'lessons' on animation, creating characters and teaching animation in the schoolroom. Holds advice on materials, drawing aids, equipment, drawing exercises etc.
- BBC Active
- BBC Active hires and licences BBC programmes for institutional use. Search by keyword and subject in a database of over 5,000 titles of BBC programmes. The tapes come with a full licence for use in education and training. The catalogue is also a useful resource for research purposes.
- BUFVC - Off Air Recording Service
- The BUFVC (British Universities Film and Video Council) offers a television recording back-up service for UK universities and colleges. Any educational establishment holding an ERA license for off-air recording can utilise this service by taking out BUFVC membership.
- Educational Recording Agency
- Site of Educational Recording Agency which provide a license enabling educational establishments to record television and radio broadcasts - except Open University programmes which are licensed separately. Site provides legal information, details of ERA membership and conditions of the licensing scheme.

- Site of English and Media Centre, based in London, dedicated to teachers of English and media in schools. Holds useful information on publications/video packs on drama, literature and media subjects - divided by age and genre. Also provides teaching material, which can be downloaded, courses for teachers and lists of websites for pupils, parents and teachers.

- Film Education aims to encourage and promote the study of film and cinema in the UK National Curriculum. Free resources include downloadable study guides for primary and secondary education, and various digital resources that can be ordered by teachers and schools. The Moving Image Gateway collects details of websites that relate to moving images and sound and their use in higher and further education as teaching/learning resources. - Site of Simile – Studies in Media and Information Literacy Education. An e-journal which is directed at media teachers, teacher-librarians and information professionals who aim to improve media literacy. Published by University of Toronto Press, the first issue is Feb.2001. Full-text articles online concentrate on innovative ways to communicate media awareness to students and general public.

- Teachit provides free teaching materials for English and Media teachers and is ‘the biggest and most popular web resource for English teachers’. Offers free classroom materials. Users need access to Acrobat Reader to access information. Media section covers various areas including advertising, film trailers, genre, individual film titles, and TV series. Also holds comments by teachers and press on the site and its materials.

- A TV channel for school teachers. Programmes take place in schools across the country and observe teachers at work. Channel also contains discussion and documentaries on education.
- Video Library - Richmond College
- Site of Video Library for outside users, based at Richmond upon Thames College in London. Aimed at schools and colleges which have an ERA license. Once users subscribe they can access videos of off-air recordings. Users can search by title, or series or keyword, eg Shakespeare, study skills; then contact the college by fax, phone or email to hire material. Useful resource.
