The BFI National Library was pleased to announce the start of an occasional series of informal discussions for library members where leading writers and historians in film, television, artists' film and the moving image reflect on past and future work.

Places are free to individual library members, however prior booking is essential as places are limited.

We were pleased to welcome Professor Robert Murphy to the BFI National Library for the first session.

Robert Murphy is Professor of Film Studies at De Montfort University. He is the author of Sixties British Cinem a (BFI Publishing 1992) and British Cinema and the Second World War (Continuum, 2000), and recently edited Directors in British and Irish Cinema (BFI Publishing, 2006).

He is currently editing a 3rd edition of The British Cinema Book for BFI Publishing, and writing a book on 'British Film Noir'.
