Historical data from BFI Information Services

BFI Information Services collated annual statistics on the film, television and home entertainment industries until 2003. This unique archive of data is now available free to download in a single volume.

Analysis and further statistical data - looking at the industry from the 1920s through to the 2000s - can also be found within our set of free to download Information Reports.

Subsequent data on the UK film industry (from 2002 to date) is compiled by the UK Film Council. The UKFC's annual Statistical Yearbooks can be accessed via the UKFC website.

The BFI National Library holds a range of resources to assist statistical research on film production, distribution and exhibition, television and home entertainment. Researchers can visit the Library, whilst BFI Information Services are able to undertake statistical and other research on request.
