- Charlie Chaplin Archive
- The website of the Charlie Chaplin Archive, operated jointly by the Chaplin Association and the Cineteca del Comune di Bologna. The archive contains thousands of items including personal papers, scripts, sketches and set designs, contracts and other documents all relating to the life and work of Chaplin. The website includes a searchable catalogue of holdings.

- Site of the Directors Guild of America. It includes a free online directory of DGA members as well as DGA signatory agencies.
- Directory of Film Directors
- Listing on Yahoo Directory of international Film Directors which is compiled of links to numerous websites. For the Movie-Film-Directors category, first page lists 40 of over 500 entries, arranged by popularity (of web users), but with an alphabetical option. Each indexed entry shows number of sites, which usefully divides into further categories, eg. sites on the director, on the films, on the DVDs/videos available. Listings usually carry a brief description. Other main categories include Silent Movie Directors, Classic Hollywood Directors, Documentary and Animation filmmakers. Helpful resource tool for information on a large number of directors, both past and present.

- The Felliniana Archive contains around 5000 artifacts relating to the work of Federico Fellini. Access is available to students, scholars, news agencies and commercial concerns. - Film Directors - Articles on the Internet
- Helpful site which has collated references to journal articles (some of which are available on the web in full text), on a large number of directors and their work. Citations are from a variety of websites, including the sites for Berkeley University, the British Film Institute and of individual magazines. A good site to use for research.
- Film-makers on film
- Part of the Daily Telegraph website, this section comprises a list of topical interviews with film-makers/directors. In reverse chronological order starting with the current month, articles appear approximately weekly and are in full text. Access is via registration, but no fee is involved.
- Gods Among Directors
- Site dedicated to select directors who have received icon status - e.g. Tarantino, Scorsese, John Woo and Kevin Smith.
- Google Directory of Filmmakers
- Google directory of websites on international filmmakers past and present, searchable via various categories and also alphabetically. Initial categories include directors in animation, commercials, cult films, documentaries, film noir and westerns. Indexes include the number of sites for each name. Actual listings provide a concise description and can be viewed by Google 'PageRank' or alphabetically. Related categories provided for each main one, plus a general search option within the directory. Impressive wealth of information, well arranged.
- Ingmar Bergman Face to Face
- English language version of the most comprehensive website and database on the works of Ingmar Bergman. Supported by the Ingmar Bergman Foundation, the site is the world’s most comprehensive collection of facts, analyses, essays, images and audio files relating to the art of Bergman. Its film section includes a complete filmography and for each title includes cast and credits, synopsis, stills, sources, shooting details, reviews and comments. Some titles also feature downloadable videos with introductions by Bergman, sequences from the film and behind the scenes footage.

- Celebratory and analytic site on the Indian director. After a useful overview, site options include detailed Biography, comprehensive filmography with synopses and credits. Plus sections on Ray's filmmaking, awards, web links and publications – both by and on the director.

- Canadian based website of critic and filmmaker Peter Watkins, director of The War Game (1966). Two main sections focus respectively on Watkins most recent media statements and on his films. Also contains contact details for the director.

Detailed and well connected site holding a broad collection of useful information.
