Provides a brief but helpful overview of the genre and then, via an extended essay format, divides titles by sub-genre arranged within a loose chronological framework. Included are: Space Invader films, the Star Wars series, Alien films, versions of the works by H.G. Wells and Japanese Monster films. Various titles, though not all, link to pages of further analysis and more detailed reviews. Useful and informative starting point for research into the genre.

Each film entry provides year, director, country of origin, the literary source if relevant, and a (frequently) detailed commentary and description. Notable are the 'Promise of Science' sections which focus on the scientific aspects of each film, eg. Time travel, Computers, Man Made Life. The allied reference page provides a combined alphabetical listing of journal sources, publications and websites covering space travel, science fiction and sci/fi films. A detailed and helpful initial guide to the history and significance of sci/fi films in the 20th century.
