Reframing literacy (PDF)

BFI has recently published Reframing Literacy, an account of our hugely successful and influential initiative to integrate short films into literacy teaching for 5-14 year olds in England.

In November 2008 in partnership with the UK Literacy Association we will be hosting a Reframing Literacy national conference at BFI Southbank. Get more details and register on the UKLA website.

Award-winning programme

On 16 June a Teachers' TV programme using one of the films from our DVD-based teaching pack Starting Stories 2 won a Royal Television Society Award for educational programming. The programme showed work in a school with Year 2 children using the short film, Dangle. Congratulations go to Big Heart Media, the production company responsible for the programme, and thanks to Teachers' TV for commissioning it.
