A snappy and sophisticated contemporary comedy based on the popular Italian novel by Sandro Veronesi.
A graphologist tries to help his colleague establish the truth of a will, while coping with the complications of the re-marriage of his father; the not entirely unwelcome attentions of his half sister, who comes to stay with him before the nuptials; and the consequences of his friend’s philandering. Despite all his best efforts to keep a lid on the situation, things don’t go the way he intends and a kind of chaos ensues, that messes things up rather than resolves them and makes the day of his dad’s wedding a potential train-wreck. A snappy, good-natured and sophisticated contemporary comedy that revolves around a well meaning (and well-to-do) young guy, who seems to skim over the surface of life but, in trying to avoid conflict, finds himself forced by circumstance into confronting his past and present demons. Matteo Rovere’s second film (after a notable debut with Bad Girls) is an excellent adaptation of the popular Italian novel by Sandro Veronesi, that is really well performed, has great comic moments and builds to a deliciously funny denouement.
