Elementary Training for Actors

Ever thought you knew everything there was to know about Method Acting? Think again as Argentine filmmakers Martín Rejtman and Federico León cast their caustic eye on a child acting coach who shares the secrets of his successes.

Thought you knew everything there was to know about Method Acting? Think again. Argentina has provided an acting coach who makes you realise Stanislavski and Adler only touched the surface of the intricacies of The Method. Meet Sergio, an acting teacher who works solely with children, and here shares his secrets on how to train them. The youngsters undertake a series of exercises as Sergio reflects on De Sica's Bicycle Thieves, on overacting and on the challenges of working with child actors. Two of Argentina's most distinguished directors, Martín Rejtman (Copacabana, The Magic Gloves and Silvia Prieto) and Federico León (Everything Together and Stars) unite in this remarkable (and often shockingly funny) dissection of the language of acting.

Avant-gardist Pere Portabella (creator of last year's The Silence Before Bach) here focuses on the process of moving house. Only what precisely does that mean when you're talking about a museum? Portabella's camera meticulously captures the packing up of the García Lorca museum in Granada. Objects and spaces are transformed before our eyes as a world is temporarily packed away and prepared for a new life.
