From the harshest of beginnings, the painful and courageous journey to hope for a poor African-American girl from Harlem.

Clareece 'Precious' Jones is a poor African American teenage girl whose life looks like it can only get worse: abused emotionally and physically by her family, now pregnant and expelled from school, her lifeline is a teacher at an alternative education centre who can somehow reach into Precious' heart. This is a hard-hitting story in which the journey to hope encounters moments of humour as well as profound hardship, brought to life by an amazing cast.
