We Love Dusty

Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien, known as Dusty Springfiled, was a prominent soul artist synonymous with the 1960's, but whose importance is felt acutely even today. Described by Elton John as "the greatest white singer that there has ever been", she made her mark on the world with her unique sensual sound and her distinctive sense of style. Here programmer Emma Smart explains why Dusty is an icon and role model for her in a special tribute to the star as part of the 53rd London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.
