The Wet Lab

This clip investigates the essential processes that take place in the BFI National Archive's Wet Lab, which ensures that films are in an optimal state to be shown and enjoyed, creating crucial new copies of restored or preserved films. BFI experts, including Technical Projects Officer Kieron Webb, Section Leader (Image Quality) Ben Thompson, and Section Leader (Lab Operations) David Gurney, take us through the four key stages that this critical part of the Archive looks after, which include: Grading, Cleaning, Printing, and Processing.
