The Dawn of Man

Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey opens with a speculative dramatisation of the evolution of primal ape into man. To explore and debate this moment in history and Kubrick's interpretation, BFI Southbank welcomed a diverse panel including the original Moonwatcher ape, Dan Richter, as well as Kubrick's brother in law/producer Jan Harlan, collaborator Andrew Birkin, and paleontologist Dr Dave Martill. Chaired by journalist Anjana Ahuja.
