London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival 2009: Opening Night

The 23rd LLGFF opened with Karin Babinská’s coming of age tale Dolls. Here the festival programmers speak about why the film was selected for this prestigious slot, and more generally about the festival’s history and evolution over the years. Established in 1986 as a very small-scale and politically motivated event, the LLGFF is now the UK’s third largest film festival, with hundreds of submissions and many thousands of visitors each year.
