Future Sex Panel Discussion

As part of the Future Human season at BFI Southbank, academics Dr Patricia MacCormack and Dr Rachel Armstrong discuss theories of cinesexuality and bioscience. Dr MacCormack here discusses her views that the unleashing of desire in cinema is an infinite territory for self discovery as opposed to the mainstream narrative pathways that reproduce established archetypes around sexuality. Dr Armstrong explains and explores her use of protocells, a non-DNA based 'life form' made of basic ingredients including olive oil, in order to challenge dominant notions that the life, activity and progress of an organism is pre-determined by its genes.
