Downton Abbey + Q&A

Director Julian Fellowes introduces his new TV drama Downton Abbey in a preview screening followed by a Q and A with cast members Hugh Bonneville, Joanne Froggatt and Executive Producer Gareth Neame. The drama is set in an Edwardian country house in 1912, portraying the life of an upper class family and their servants less than ten years before the First World War. The creative team chose a period when the future seems promising, but where traditions clash pointedly with the inventions of modernity. Gareth Neame explains further that the aim was to create a period programme that would still be relevant and engaging for today's viewers. Actors Hugh Bonneville and Joanne Froggatt also describe the relationships between the upstairs and the downstairs characters that are always shadowed and kept in check by the hierarchy maintained inside the estate.
