Nighthawks 30th Anniversary + Q&A

Recently restored by the BFI, newly available on BFI DVD, and 30 years since its UK release, Matt Lucas presents a special screening of the pioneering British gay film Nighthawks. Hugely controversial on its initial release, Nighthawks defies categorisation. Set to a haunting electronic score, its compelling cyclical structure portrays the daily work of a schoolteacher with his documentation of changing urban spaces and nights spent cruising bars and clubs in search of Mr Right.
The film's writer and producer Paul Hallam joins us to discuss the film’s origins.
