The BAFTA and BFI Screenwriters Lecture Series: Paul Laverty

Prolific screenwriter Paul Laverty, who has enjoyed a lengthy collaboration with Ken Loach, talks about his love of working with friends and the support he feels while creating his work. A champion of political filmmaking, he discusses the difficulties of raising finance and the challenges of bringing these stories to the screen, while questioning whether there can be true objectivity in cinema. Amongst all this, spontaneity and humour play their part in his work, and he shares his experiences reconciling his journalistic impulses with the dramatic.
