Michael Barratt in Conversation

Broadcaster Sian Williams interviews Michael Barratt, helmsman of the pioneering current affairs show Nationwide (1969-84), which featured filmed contributions from across the UK to create a snapshot of contemporary Britain.

Barratt shares his career highlights, including the regional reporting of the Profumo scandal and the announcement of Margaret Thatcher's first prime minister election. He brushes off comparisons with The One Show, stating that the time is right for Nationwide to return to the TV schedules.
