Beauty + Q&A

Director Oliver Hermanus discusses his film Beauty, a disturbing exploration of a South African man's repressed sexuality and self-hatred, which won the Queer Palm at the 2011 Cannes film festival. Hermanus talks about his approaches to writing and rehearsal, the challenges of portraying an unsympathetic main character, and the fact that Beauty was the first Afrikaans language film invited to premiere at Cannes.
