The Derek Oyston CHE Film Award

The BFI is delighted to announce the introduction of The Derek Oyston CHE Film Award for the film presented in the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival which most reflects the aims and objectives of The Campaign for Homosexual Equality. The organisers hope the film will encourage filmmakers to make films that document the experience of campaigning the continuing struggles for LGBT rights in the UK and around the world.

The nominated films are:
A Place to Live: The Story of Triangle Square Dir Carolyn Coal
Darling!: the Pieter-Dirk Uys Story Dir Julian Shaw
Dreams Deferred: The Sakia Gunn Project Dir Charles B Brack
Fig Trees Dir John Greyson and David Wall
In This Our Lives: The Reunion Dir Topher Campbell
One Summer in New Paltz, a Cautionary Tale Dir Nancy Nicol
Out Late Dir Beatrice Alda and Jennifer Brookev
Sex Positive Dir Daryl Wein
Travel Queeries Dir Elliat Graney-Saucke

Broadcaster, Television Reporter and Gay Rights Campaigner Ray Gosling will present the award of £2,000 to the director(s) of the winning film by at the main screening of their film in the LLGFF.

The CHE Film Award jury members in this inaugural year are: Griff Vaughan Williams, Media Officer of CHE; Emma Smart, LLGFF Programmer; and Nettie Pollard, a founding member of Feminists Against Censorship and CHE Executive Committee member.
