Self-Made Men - Gay Fashion on Film
Quentin Crisp
Two revealing portraits of this key figure in gay history.
World in Action: Quentin Crisp
Crisp was approached by documentary maker Denis Mitchell to be the subject of this revealing short film, set in his legendary Chelsea bedsit. Crisp talks about his life, opinions and world. The broadcast brought enough attention to Crisp that he soon entered talks about a dramatisation of his 1968 book The Naked Civil Servant starring John Hurt.

Resident Alien
At age 73 Quentin Crisp moved from London to New York. Rossiter's camera follows Crisp about the streets of Manhattan, where Crisp seems very much at home. Others who know Crisp comment on him, on his life as an openly gay man with an effeminate manner, and on his place in gay history. The portrait that emerges is of one wit and of suffering.
