Love and Words + Lesbian Censorship in School

An experimental documentary of great beauty and, unexpectedly, a film about love.

Love and Words

While filming in Yemen, Sylvie Ballyot had her tapes seized by authorities and lost the key subject of her feminist documentary. Adrift in an unknown country she decides to continue with the project, filming herself in public places, the only woman in a sea of men.

Unused to keeping herself and her sexuality hidden, her responses to an unfamiliar culture are interspersed with interviews with students, who give their opinions on love, family and sexuality. What results is an experimental documentary of great beauty and, unexpectedly, a film about love.
