Ten More Good Years + Freeheld
Two inspirational documentaries about true queer survivors.Ten More Good Years
Director Michael Jacoby looks at the challenges of ageing while remaining out and proud. Governments and care providers are slowly beginning to wake up to the issues. Jacoby interviews a host of determined survivors dealing with the problems of being queer and old including Miss Major who took part in the Stonewall Riots, and James Bidgood director of Pink Narcissus.
This is a film for everyone who hopes to live to beyond retirement. It is timely and moving, both an inspiration and a warning.

Freeheld
When Police Lieutenant Laurel Hester became terminally ill she asked that her state pension be passed onto her domestic partner, Stacie. What follows is a compelling account of the last months of Laurel's life as she and Stacie struggle to convince the County to grant their relationship equal status. The bravery of these two very private women is inspirational. So too is the massive grassroots support for their case, with republican ex-cops surprised to find themselves as advocates for gay rights. Oscar nominated.
