New Queer Underground

Event investigating the intersection of film, video, queer communities and open content technologies.

As sexuality slips down the political agenda, an increasing number of today’s queer filmmakers are bypassing cinemas, film festivals, funding organisations and broadcasters and electing to publish and distribute their work online. newqueerunderground.com has been developed to showcase a year-round and constantly evolving body of new online work from queer communities, enabling audiences and filmmakers to populate, access and curate a space for queer video.

New Queer Underground at the LLGFF will investigate the intersection of film, video, queer communities and open content technologies. A selection of the most highly rated work from the site will screen alongside titles chosen by a panel of film and broadcast professionals. The panel will discuss and answer your questions about the emerging role of internet broadcast media in contemporary film culture and the potential of new technologies to influence the film establishment.

You can submit your own work and help decide which videos get screened at this event. Visit newqueerunderground.com and have your say.
