Following this screening we will be presenting Greta Schiller’s short film Tiny and Ruby: Hell Divin’ Women (US 1988. 30min). This will be followed by a panel discussion with film directors Greta Schiller, Monika Treut and Richard Kwietniowski plus Ken Livingstone who introduced Before Stonewall at the premiere 25 years ago.

Darling! The Pieter-Dirk Uys Story + Let Yourself Go – The Lives of Fred Hersch

The winner of the Campaign for Homosexual Equality Derek Oyston film prize for the film which best reflects CHE's aims and objectives has been won by Darling! The Pieter-Dirk Uys Story (Australia 2007. Dir Julian Shaw). The award commemorates a major donor to CHE, Derek Oyston, who lived in Newcastle upon Tyne and thanks to his legacy the winning film-maker Julian Shaw will receive a cheque of £2,000 to go towards his next project.
To celebrate this inaugural award winner we have arranged this extra screening of the film and an accompanying short. The jury was composed of Griff Vaughan Williams, CHE Media Officer, Emma Smart, LLGFF programmer and Nettie Pollard, founder of Feminists Against Censorship and a member of the CHE Executive Board.

Following the screening director Ulrike Ottinger will take part in an extended on-stage discussion with some leading British academics including Adrian Rifkin (Goldsmiths, University of London), Angela McRobbie (Goldsmiths, University of London), Mandy Merck (Royal Holloway, University of London) and programmer Emma Smart.
