Squeezebox!

Squeezebox was an extraordinary nightclub, a crucible of queer rock culture in Guiliani's New York of the 90s, surviving for a last hurrah until 2001. The club was a magnet for rockers of every hue and hosted the likes of Jayne County (a vivid inspiration to this scene) along with John Cameron Mitchell (who developed Hedwig through friendships made at the club). A dazzling range of new talent and old favourites including The Lady Bunny, glam rockers The Toilet Boys, Psychotica, John Waters, Kiki and Herb, Mark Almond, Lilly of the Valley and more became the toast of the town. Remarkable footage gives a particularly rich sense of what Squeezebox was like. The climax of the film is the last night with Jayne County leading an unforgettable chorus joined by dozens of performers in a rendition of 'If You Don't Want to Fuck Me, Fuck Off!'.
