Donate Your Thesis

Would you like your postgraduate thesis or dissertation on the moving image to reach a wider audience?

If so, the bfi National Library would be delighted to hear from you. The library houses the world's largest collection of information on film and television and invites you to add to our collections by donating a copy of your thesis. We already hold several hundred theses and dissertations dating back over the last thirty years. This collection is a unique resource for researchers, often covering subjects that have yet to be touched upon in published works, and including the formative works of leading academics in the field.

We are always looking to improve our collections, however, so if you would like to donate your thesis please contact Sean Delaney.

Please note that we can only accept postgraduate theses or dissertations that have been successfully submitted for Masters or Doctoral qualifications awarded by recognised educational institutions. We are particularly keen to acquire English language theses on topics relating to British film and television, and any work donated should be appropriate to the bfi National Library's acquisition policy.

Accepted donations will be added to the library's reference collections - accessible to researchers at our Reading Room - with an entry on our online book catalogue. The library does not permit the copying of any unpublished thesis without the prior permission of the author.
