Archive Information and Enquiries

We welcome enquiries by email from anyone wanting to find out more about the collections of films and TV programmes held at the BFI National Archive.

You may wish to look initially at our Film and TV Database. Please note this is an information database, not a list of our holdings - however it may help you identify titles that interest you.

Contact the BFI curatorial team

If you make an enquiry we will put you in touch with the appropriate contact point for access to the collection - either to identify titles on a particular subject, or to view for research purposes, or to use clips in a production. If we don't hold the material you are interested in then we will try to suggest other potential lines of enquiry.

Please note that for rights reasons we cannot usually make copies of material held in the Archive. If you are looking to buy a film or TV programme for your own personal use please see our information on DVD and video availability. If you are a student, academic, or non-commercial researcher you may be able to see material on our premises through the Research Viewing Service.
