bfi National Library book catalogue

Viewing material in the library.

The bfi National Library book catalogue is your gateway to accessing one of the world's largest collections of books on cinema and television.

Access the catalogue online here

The collection of over 50,000 books covers all aspects of film and television internationally.

As well as books about a particular film/person/subject, you can also use the catalogue to access our holdings of bibliographies, PhD theses, directories, yearbooks, annual reports, encyclopaedias, filmographies, published scripts etc.

A standard feature of our catalogue is that of 'Title'; please be aware that this reveals both book titles and film titles. 'Film titles' allows us to link records of books about that film, where perhaps a chapter or more has been written; it does not mean that the library holds the film itself - indeed, generally we hold only printed and audio material.

Another new feature of the catalogue is that when searching under Name, you can choose to see all the titles relating to that person (ie. including books they have written) or just the titles about them.

If you have any further queries about our holdings, please contact us using the Library contact form.
