We are delighted to announce that the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival (LLGFF), the longest running queer film event in the UK, will continue in spring 2012, celebrating its 26th year.
This announcement follows a review completed since this year’s festival, during which the screens of BFI Southbank had never been busier. The length of the festival will be increased from this year’s six-day run, while industry services will also be back for 2012.
Time Out said of the festival:
‘The LLGFF has been a cultural and social highlight of London’s LGBT calendar for 25 years and a welcome annual fixture for film fans of all orientations.’
This year’s 25th festival opened with Gregg Araki’s apocalyptic Kaboom, currently showing in cinemas, and closed with The Four-Faced Liar, a romantic comedy with a difference, currently available on DVD. Other events included a preview of Sarah Waters’ The Night Watch, which will be broadcast on BBC2 in July, and new films from festival favourites including Xavier Dolan, Cheryl Dunne, Sebastien Lifshitz and Rosa von Praunheim.
Dates for the festival are yet to be announced.
