Helen has worked for over 20 years in a variety of roles focused on collection care and development, and access to and conservation of the BFI’s collections, both paper and moving image.
Between 1998 and 2002 she worked as part of the team who delivered a five-year collection management programme funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) ‘An Archive for the 21st Century’ project. This was closely followed by her co-ordinating a two-year JISC-funded digitisation and access project, InView: British History through a Lens, resulting in 1,000 hours of digitised works streamed online for Higher and Further Education institutions. She moved onto project management with a major two-year collections management review and a move programme to relocate the preservation film collection to the BFI’s newly constructed Master Film Store. She contributed to the delivery of the BFI’s Collections Information Database (CID).
