Since joining the BFI in 2005, Simon has worked closely on the launch and programming of BFI Mediatheques around the UK. He has produced and presented archive touring programmes including The Big Smoke: Films from a Lost London and Brit Chic: Fashion on Film, and programmes the BFI’s archive channel on YouTube. As part of the BFI National Archive’s curatorial team, he is also involved in selecting and researching films for BFI Player.
Simon is a graduate of the University of East Anglia’s Film Archiving MA, during which he was the first archive intern at Francis Ford Coppola’s production company American Zoetrope in San Francisco. Recent projects have included working on the BBC2 series The Reel History of Britain, curating BFI Southbank’s Titanic centenary season and contributing to the BFI Compendiums 39 Steps to the Genius of Hitchcock and Gothic: The Dark Heart of Film. He is a regular programme contributor to BFI Flare: London LGBT Film Festival.
