Heartlands: A Portrait of Derby and the East Midlands on film

Drawn from the BFI National Archive and the Media Archive for Central England, Heartlands is a landmark collection of films and TV programmes reflecting over 100 years of life in Derby and the wider region.

You can enjoy the beautiful colour film of Derby's Charter Celebrations (1954) and witness shocking slum housing in Homes for the People (1945). Relish the presentation of Britain's first diesel locomotive in Main Line Diesel (1946) and a 1968 interview with Derby County FC's Brian Clough.

The Heartlands collection is a collaboration between the BFI National Archive and the Media Archive for Central England. It has been generously supported by EM Media, the Regional Screen Agency for England's East Midlands, through the National Lottery Regional.
