Bustin' Down the Door chronicles a tumultuous two-year period of competitive and cultural clashes in the mid-Seventies in surfing's Mecca - Hawaii's North Shore of Oahu. Despite violent opposition from the local culture a small crew of Australians and South Africans set out with attitude and determination to change the world of surfing.
Framed around the emerging careers of World Champions-to-be Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew, Shaun Tomson and Mark Richards, Bustin' documents how these young men risked everything to become the best surfers in the world.
BFI IMAX is pleased to showcase Bustin' Down the Door in a Digital Cinema Presentation. In order to show this film in its best light the film will fill approximately 1/3 of the giant screen to take into account the film's vintage footage.
