African Caribbean Matinee: A Charmed Life

An inspiring exploration of the history of the Caribbean community in the UK.

Director Patrick Vernon came across the story of Jamaican-born airman and writer, Eddie Noble (1917-2007) while exploring the history of the Caribbean community in the UK. This inspiring documentary offers a powerful account of a generation who offered their support for the war effort and explores the colonisation of the Caribbean and its connection to the UK. The story inspired Andrea Levy's aclaimed novel, Small Island.
