Dressed to Kill
On the bank holiday weekend of May 24 & 25 we introduce our first 'Weekender', which will bring the venue alive with new bespoke events and experiences for all. In celebration of the second Fashion in Film Festival, BFI Southbank will be inspired by the decadence and panache of the 1920's and 1930's. Over the course of two days you'll be able to:
-Purchase one of a kind vintage accessories and apparel, courtesy of Radio Days
-Document your own fashion crimes with free high resolution photo prints, in association with HP printers
-Admire sumptuous 20's costumes courtesy of Angels
-Enjoy free performances by nostalgia bands and dancers
Many thanks to:
Kate Hargreaves (Gideon Reeling)
Emma Piette (Willow Partnership)
David Piper (Rakehells Revels)

Sat 24 May
11:00 - 15:00: Jazz Brunch - benugo will be offering their mighty brunch menu all day, as well as their bloody mary buffet - benugo's infused vodka's, special ingredient tomato mix, fresh tomatoes and all the fixin's you could want - tell them how you like it and they'll whip it up for you.
As you dine enjoy the dulcet tones of Lady and the Tramps. Imagine if you will "Mack the Knife" and "Minnie the Moocher" drowning their "Singapore Sorrows" then revivng their spirits in the "House of Bamboo" to the sound of Lady and the Tramps playing their fine and fiesty jazz tunes in divine company! Oh so fair of face yet a force so formidable...
Lady and the Tramps are: Vivacious Vocalist and Kazoo Queen ~ She Rocola
Devilish Drummer and Bestest Backing Vocalist ~ Joe Whitney
Honky Tonk Piano Man ~ Jim Hawkins
17:00 - 19:00: Foxtrot Fanny spins original 78rpm discs on a specially modified 1927 HMV wind-up gramophone. Part of the Shellac Sisters quintet ("the most demure DJs in the world") she delights in calming the nerves with soothing sounds of the 1920s - 1950s. www.myspace.com/shellacsisters
17:45: This performance of silent jewel heist classic The Rat starring Ivor Novello, features the rapier wit of compere David Piper, and glittering performances by the Lady Greys and the Bees Knees. Fancy dress is more than encouraged, and lest you be without, last minute additions will be available.
19:30: Drift into our free re-creation of the Parisian underworld, as we'll be transforming the benugo bar into 'The White Coffin Club' - where absinthe and abandon abound! Dance until late (2am) and dress to kill - there will be prizes for those best turned out in 20's gorgeousness, courtesy of Radio Days.
Sun 25 May
Film Funday - Kids can enjoy an array of activities from film-making and creating their own storyboards, to face painting and fancy dress. Families can also enjoy special offers at benugos, from the famous roast, to especially themed cocktails and menus. Also featuring a special 13:00pm screening of Bugsy Malone - with introduction by its star, Dexter Fletcher.
17:45 and 19:30: Tricity Vogue presents her own charming blend of slink and sass - the music she likes to call "cheeky jazz". Think Peggy Lee after a few too many cocktails. A vintage songstress with her tongue firmly in her cheek, Tricity's glamorous cabaret jazz act involves fabulous gowns, her very own horn section, and a small pink ukelele. Miss Vogue's mischievously witty music harks back to a bygone era while at times sounding suspiciously contemporary. Tricity Vogue and friends romp their way through swing, latin, and blues, as they revisit old favourites, give unexpected songs a jazz twist, and introduce you to some originals that Tricity denies are inspired by her own romantic misadventures.
