Michael Palin and Terry Jones introduce The Complete and Utter History of Britain
One of the key programmes that led to the creation of Monty Python's Flying Circus.
The comedy legends introduce this special screening of their 1969 sketch show, once thought lost but recently rediscovered via the BFI's Missing Believe Wiped initiative.
This LWT comedy series, produced by Humphrey Barclay, was one of the three key programmes (the others being At Last the 1948 Show and Do Not Adjust Your Set) that led to the creation of Monty Python's Flying Circus. The premise was simple: a zany retelling of English history as the backdrop to pacy, often surreal sketches. Once thought lost, three editions have recently surfaced via the BFI's Missing Believed Wiped initiative.
We are delighted that the show's creators and writers, Michael Palin and Terry Jones, will introduce this special screening and Q&A.
