Lightning Over Water

Wim Wenders' elegiac film about the last hours of Nicholas Ray is a collaboration between Ray, in the final stages of terminal cancer, and the younger director. Known also as Nick's Movie, it is the final work of someone who chose to spend his last hours working on a film in his New York loft, surrounded by the detritus of film-making rather than in a hospital bed. A moving and masterful testament to one of the greats of cinema.
